Some times you just have to MAKE them Get It!

What a great post I found today while browsing The Telecommuting Coach blog.

You know so many times, even me personally, we work at home moms just don’t understand how we can make people realize that what we do is work and hard work at that.

Many people, and understandably so, don’t realize that we really are WORKING! I have been told many times things like “Wow, that’s great that you work at home. You are there with your kids, your house is always clean, you can come and go as you please!” No offense to those people but: HAHAHAHA I wish I could keep my house spotless and could come and go as I please all the time.

What’s worse than that is when we, ourselves, don’t take what we do seriously enough to realize just how hard we do work! Click here to see what I mean!

My First Online Interview…FINITO!

Well, it’s done! I had my very first ever online interview last night.

Nell, the owner of Telecommuting Moms , called and interviewed me for her Telecommuting Moms Month event next month. The topic was taxes and how they pertain to those who telecommute specifically independent contractors. I had posted last week that I was going to be doing the interview with her, but it had to get rescheduled.

I love working with other work at home moms because they completely get the “my kids come first” attitude so when something goes wrong and you need to be with your kiddos they understand and don’t fault you for it in the least bit. Nell and I both have had to reschedule this particular interview a few times due to family needs. But as of last night…the interview is finally done.

I was so nervous going into the interview and Nell made it so easy. I lost my nervousness pretty quick. She’s so laid back and loves to laugh (thank goodness because we were laughing ALOT). I know that it may not seem quite as professional as many would think but that’s ok because I, as well as Nell, are who we are and we truly believe that moms looking to work from home will appreciate the fact that we ‘keep it real’.

Nell sent me the link to the interview last night and I listened this morning. Wow, it’s weird listening to yourself talk about “important stuff”! :) If I had it to do over again yes, there are a few things I would have changed, but all in all, I would leave it the way it is.

You’ll have to head over to Telecommuting Moms Month and check out all the cool stuff that Nell has planned. She will be offering the interview ‘on demand’ the week of September 25 - 29. Head on over and check it out!

If Mama Ain’t Happy, Ain’t Nobody Happy!

It’s no secret that, as Moms, we tend to over-exert ourselves. It’s easy to do and all too often we find ourselves so stressed out that we don’t know whether we are coming or going. We put everything to our families and forget about ourselves.

The old saying, “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy” is so true! We know we want to lead happier more fufilling lives. We also know that if we are stressed and down it’s no good for our families. So, how do we fix it? How do we get out of our ’slumps’ and into a life that keeps everyone happy, including US?

Well, a close friend of mine has the answers in her book, Your Journey To Joy! Aurelia Williams is a mom of 3 who prides herself in helping others and she is great at it might I add. She is re-releasing this book and has added 5 new chapters and also offers a teleseminar about the book where she answers readers questions about leading a happier life.

Yes, Aurelia is a friend of mine, but I’m not just promoting this book to help her out. I want to help other Moms realize that they don’t have to live unhappy, unfulfilling lives.

We are Moms for crying out loud…we DESERVE these things. I personally have stuggled with depression issues since my second child came along and I got so down and out that I didn’t even know I was there and definately had NO idea how to get myself back up!

I have actually read the book and I must say that I took away from it SOOOO much. It really has changed my outlook on many things that I didn’t even realize I was guilty of. The tips Aurelia gives in this book are tips that can easily be integrated into any Mom’s life. The Self Esteem section slapped me in the face and made me realize that I’m not the only one with these issues.

Click Here! to get your copy. You just may find yourself a happier Mom and woman all around. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for you kiddos. They will LOVE you for it!

Ch Ch Ch Changes!

You know I find myself more times that I like to admit complaining about how one thing or another isn’t going right. I’ve really been trying to work on this within myself and have made some progress, but not until today, after reading this post, did I look at it with seriousness and humor all at the same time!

12 hours to go and I’m already nervous.

Don’t have too long to post this morning. I have my nephew coming over for the day and I have a boatload of work to do, but I had to let you all know that I’m gonna be a part of my good friend Nell’s Telecommuting Mom’s Month.

I’m so nervous it’s ridiculous. Tonight at 8 o’clock she is going to be interviewing me regarding telecommuting taxes. She calls me the tax queen (hahaha) so I know I have to know my stuff and I’m so afraid I’m gonna flubbed something up. Boy I sure hope she can edit the audio after wards! LOL

You can probably tell how nervous I am by this post hu? Well, wish me luck everyone and I’ll be back to let you all know how it went and when and where you can hear the interview. I do know that it will be available the last week of September, but so far that’s all the details I have!
Ok, I’m off to slowly inhale and exhale to calm myself down! ;)

I think I was born too late!

Files under Tasty Tuesday | 1 Comment »

My post from yesterday got me thinking about something: I think I was born too late! ;) I’ve thought this before so it’s not a NEW thing.

Hearing all those oldies songs (1950’s-60’s)and knowing the words and signing along felt so good and made me sooo happy! I’ve watched movies & heard relatives talk about the way life was in those days and I really think that I was born in the wrong decade.

I want to be a poodle skirt wearing (ok so not skirt…think more like Sandy in Grease and her black outfit), be boppin’ gal with a boyfriend who rolls his sleeves up and slicks his hair back and loves going to sock hops on Friday nights and doesn’t get embarrased dancing in front of people!

You wonder why hubby thinks I’m crazy? Now you know! LMBO Ok, I’m awake now and back to reality! Sorry to bring you into my delusional dreams! LOL Had to share though.

Groove is in the What? & Funky Cold Huh?

Today I spent the day doing some work for my VA clients and while working I was listening to Yahoo’s Launchcast Radio on Yahoo Instant Messenger. I needed some upbeat, keep me moving music so I chose the Summer Party Station. It was pretty cool and played a good mix of music from the 50’s to today! Just what I needed to get me motivated.

I was feeling really old when some of the songs were playing from my childhood. For instance “Groove is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite and “Funky Cold Madena” by Tone Loc! LOL I would hear a few notes of them and start laughing out loud.

This happened with no reaction from hubby, who was sitting on the loveseat right next to my pc, for a few songs. After about 3 songs of my hysterical laughing and saying “Oh my..I haven’t heard this song in FFOOORRRREEEVVVEEEERRR.” (picture the kid on the movie ‘The Sandlot’), he finally spoke up! I was singing along and hubby was lookin’ at me like I was crazy.

See, he’s 2 years younger than me and some of the music I listened to back then he’s never heard and thinks is just weird! LOL At one point, he started laughing and said in a semi-boss like voice…”Ok, enough playing. You need to get to work!” LMBO

My response: “Hey, I am the boss and I can do more than one thing at a time. So, if my singing offends you, I apologize, but as long as I’m getting my work done I’m gonna sing. Besides, aren’t you supposed to be sleeping right now so you can go to work this evening?” ;) It wasn’t long after that he was asleep on the loveseat!

I’ll keep this station on every day now when I work, because I got soooo much done today while Hunter was with Granny and Zach was playing in his room! :)
