Dialogue Between a Mom & Her 1 year old

This is what I do most of the day! I wish I knew how to do video on here because if you could see his face, it would be all that more precious.

this is an audio post - click to play

And this isn’t even half as talkative as he is. He knows only a few words, but they are priceless. He can say Mom Mom, Dada, Dack (Zach), Duck, uh huh and his newest word is Ta-Ta!

Do you see why I NEED adult conversation now? LOL I can only say “Oh Yeah”, “Uh Huh”, and “Really?” so many times a day before it gets real boring! LOL ;)

A poem from a Mom to her Boys

Files under Tasty Tuesday | 1 Comment »

I found this poem online yesterday while doing some research on homeschooling and I loved it. It actually brought me to tears when I read it the first time and I have read it over and over again.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Do you have all boys? If so, let me know how it touched your heart. Even if you don’t have all boys I think you will enjoy it.

To My Boys
by Lynn Wilson

I look around this house of mine
and know that I’ve been blessed.
G.I. Joes and Tonka trucks,
it’s messy at its best!

While sweeping up the cookie crumbs
sometimes I’m overcome
with feelings there’s too much to do.
The work is never done!

Dusty shelves and dirty floors
and heaps of dirty clothes.
This house is very lived in,
so this is how it goes!

One boy is doing homework now
and one asks for a drink.
With this sink of dirty dishes,
there are no clean cups, I think!

I step around the high chair.
The room seems small, of late.
I pull a little sippy-cup
from underneath a plate.

Washed and dried and filled with juice
I hand it to my tot.
He beams a loving smile up.
To him, that meant a lot!

I dive into this house of mine
and in two hours’ time,
the house is neat, the floors are clean,
and up the stairs I climb.

Intentions, well, they’re always good,
(our bedtime story is near),
but three little boys, while waiting on me,
fell fast asleep, I fear.

I look into each sleeping face,
lips formed into a pout.
I take a little hand in mine.
What do they dream about?

I hope they’re dreams of playing,
and laughter and good cheer,
and strong to last as memories
to quell some future fear.

For there’s a lot that waits for them
outside their childhood’s door.
When they are men and moved away,
and mommy’s boys no more.

A tear rolls quietly down my face.
Life plays a game with me.
Time ebbs away without a sound,
and babes grow up, you see!

So while the sun has not quite set
on childhood’s time for mine.
I’ll try to make, each day, a point
to give them of my time.

The floors can wait, as can the dust,
I tell myself tonight.
My littlest one now in my arms,
I hold him very tight.

I kiss his face, he feels so warm,
this child whose life I bore.
I know I’ll love him just like now
when he’s a babe no more.

Back Home Again in Indiana (in my mind anyway)

Forgive me while I go back to my roots for a bit. Growing up in Indiana, I was an Indy Car Girl…my family held season tickets to the Indy 500. It was a HUGE event every May. After moving to Virginia, I lost an interest, because to be honest…this is NASCAR country! I still keep up with IRL every now and again, but don’t really know much except that the league split into IRL (Indy Racing League) and CART and I’m on the IRL side.

I also know that there is finally a girl in the league that is worth something: Danika Patrick. My cousin Nikki and I secretly wished we would grow up to be her. ;) I thought it was so cool when I watched her lead the 500 and then watch her (on the tube) when they raced in Richmond last year. Another cool thing, she was on the Rahal/Letterman team. Although he wasn’t my favorite, I liked Bobby Rahal when he raced and David Letterman, well he’s from Indiana and his show rocks, atleast it did the last time I watched it. Can’t stay up that late anymore.

Anyway, I just found out the other day that Danika has left the Rahal/Letterman team to join the Andretti Green team! OH YUCK! I couldn’t stand the Andretti’s. Mario was alright, but Michael that was a whole other story. Now the girl I wanted to be has made a choice that I wouldn’t be caught dead even considering! LOL Just kidding, as a business woman I can respect her decision, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. ;)

Today I found out that GoDaddy.com is one of her new sponsors and she is now a GoDaddy Girl! That I can say COOL to.

So I guess my internet marketing self (or soon to be anyway) can forgive the first mistake of switching teams and I will continue to root for her next year.

GO DANIKA GO!!

6 pack minus 2

Last night I was giving Hunter his bath and Zach was standing in the back of the tub playing with Hunter and the new bath toys that Grandma Moosey sent Hunter for his birthday.

From where Zach was standing he could see himself in the mirror. He had no shirt on (which is a fairly recent thing that he goes around w/o a shirt) and he looks at me and says: “Hey Moommy, standing here looking in the mirror, it looks like I have a 4 pack!”

He even went so far as to show me where the lines where and was so proud! LOL After a few minutes of the pride he looked at me and said, “Is there even such a thing as a 4 pack?”

I couldn’t shoot him down so I said, “Sure there is and you’ve got one!” :)

Introducing: Parenting My Teen Talk Radio

Yesterday was the first show and I listened in. WOWSERS!

Aurelia is a natural talk radio show host. She’s so laid back and informative. She seems so real!

I don’t have teens yet (keyword yet), but I have bookmarked this show and when I get my IPod, I will be automatically downloading the show to it so I can listen to every show. Until then, I’ll be listening while I work.

Kudos to Aurelia for tackling issues that affect teens and their parents that many keep behind closed doors. I’m so looking forward to learning and implementing the suggestions that are given on the show when the boys reach those awkward teen years.

If you have teens, and even if you don’t, you HAVE to check this show out. Go here to listen.
