One Hot Mama Inspires Me

Nell over at Casual Friday Everyday, has finally done it. She’s cut her hair and I absolutely LOVE it.

If it wasn’t for the fact that hubby might just kick me out I’d go that short too! ;)
I’ve been wanting a change in my hair for a loooong time, but I’ve had bad experiences so many times since my hair is naturally curly no one seems to know how to cut it. However, I know how to straighten it now AND it’s not as curly as it used to be thanks to having two kids.

After seeing Nell’s new do, I’ve decided to go on the hunt for a new, brave do myself along with some color and highlights. I’ll definitely post pics when I find just the right cut. Then you’ll have to talk me into actually doing it though…LOL

I Need a New Name

Ok, ladies and gents, I am going to finally move my blog to it’s own domain…(anyone else thing lewisfamilyinva.blogspot.com is just entirely too long? ;)

Anyhow, I need some help with picking out a name? I’m totally at a loss and I’m just awful at picking names anyway…don’t believe me…just look up at the title. See what I mean…I need serious help.

So here are 3 things that I mainly post about…
1. Being a mom to two boys and a wife.
2. Being a work at home mom who runs her own business.
3. Anything else I may think of in my crazy mommy moments! :)

So…help this non-creative mommy blogger out and leave your thoughts in the comments area. If I pick yours, I’ll give you a little prize!

Thanks a million everyone…I really want to get this blog a rockin’!

Help a WAHM of 4 Make a New Life for Herself & Her Kids

I was checking email today and I received an email from copywriter, Michel Fortin and the title of the email alone brought tears to my eyes…”To Stop Her From Going Online, He Broke Her Hands.” Needless to say, he had my undivided attention.

After reading the email I made my way to Jason Moffatt’s blog post about a work at home mom of 4 kids (the youngest a few months younger than our Hunter) named Cy. You see, Cy is at this very moment, trying to start a new life for herself and her kids after an extremely abusive relationship. Again, the tears are flowing…you see I have never been in a physically abusive relationship, but as a child I saw my share of other abuses in my life; some mine, some others. So, yes I have a soft spot in my heart for others, especially children who have to live with or endure any type of abuse, be it physical, mental, or sexual. My past troubles don’t even begin to touch what this woman and her children have been through.

That being said, I also know that there are a lot of people with “sob stories” online who have created these stories just to make a few bucks. I must say those people don’t get my sympathies, but Cy does and here’s why.

She is a hard working and brave woman to come forward with the problems she is experiencing in her life. She’s a strong woman who knows that her kids deserve better in life, even if that means for awhile things will be hard for them. She sees a light at the end of the tunnel and that’s proven by the fact that she is living on the road with all 4 of her kids, doing what she can until she has enough money to start their new life in a new place.

On the same token, it’s obvious Jason is a caring friend who sees a friend who needs help and is doing everything he can to get those of us online to lend a hand. So, head on over, check out Jason’s post and help in anyway you can.

And if you believe in God, please send up your prayers for Cy and her babies. Here’s mine:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for helping Cy realize that she could no longer live her life or subject her children to, the life she has known. Thank you for giving her the strength to do what she needed to do in order to get out of the situation. Give her strength to see it through and come out on the right side! Be with her and her children in this time in their life when they need you more than they may have ever needed you. Lead them on the right path and see them through every step of this long, hard journey. With your love and guidance they WILL make it and become an even stronger, happier, and closer family. In Jesus name, AMEN!

Competition Doesn’t Exist in My World

It amazes me how so many people with online businesses are so worried about competition and will say and do just about anything to make other business owners look bad. Geez…come on people there’s a whole WORLD wide web out there. Didn’t your mama ever teach you to share?

As a virtual assistant, I have lots of fellow VAs in my field (notice I didn’t use the C word) who offer services the same as I do and we all get along great! We all are there to lend a hand when necessary, help one another out, learn from one another and even learn together at times.

And today I want to give a shout out to some great fellow WAHM virtual assitants. Thanks for everything gals, you’re the best and I’m honored to be in your company.

Mel of Essential Office Support

Mel, Mel, Mel! Girl, I owe so much to you it’s not even possible to put it all into words. Thanks to you and our girl Nell, my dream of becoming a WAHM exists! Thank you for everything, but especially for giving me my first break! How cool is it that a year later our paths have crossed once again in a bigger and better way for both of us? :) Love ya!

Angela of Star VA

Wow, you’ve come a long way baby and I couldn’t be happier for you. I’ll never forget the day you came to me with a question and I thought to myself…who am I to be answering questions from a new VA. But you have surpassed me in so many ways and I just want to say congratulations and I only see bigger and better things in your future! GO GIRL GO!!

Jen the Internet Marketing Chic

I’ve known Jen since I first started out and she is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Jen, even though you may not know it your attitude is contagious and I thank you for that. By the way, give those girls a big hug for me!

Tishia of Tishia Saves Time

Tishia and I have not really had a chance to work together and we don’t talk much, but I know she does good work and I also know that she is a great inspiration to other moms out there. A single mom who grabbed the bull by the horns and MADE it happen, Tishia, you are awesome! Way to go girl!

Jenn of Resume ASAP

Not only a VA but a close friend (whom I haven’t been able to catch up with in awhile) you have been through more with me when I was first starting out than anyone and I will never be able to thank you enough. Thanks for allowing me to gripe, complain and scream like a giddy little girl! You’re the best and you better contact me and soon! :)

And, because I am a sleep deprived Mommy VA I know I’ve forgotten someone, that’s just the way things are supposed to work, isn’t it? If I’ve forgotten you, please accept my apologies and let me know and I’ll make sure to add you to the list.

Check Him Out

One of my fellow online mommy friends told me about a work at home Dad blog and I just had to venture over and check out DevDad. I just love to hear about other WAHMs, but I think is it so cool when I hear about WAHDs!

This daddy is awesome. He loves his daughter dearly and it shows! His writing style is great, he loves him some video, and seems like he runs a very successful at home business too! So, here’s a shout out to you, DevDad…Kudos, Keep Up the Great Work!

If you haven’t heard about him, head on over and check out this bloggin’ daddy at

www.devdad.com

And check it out, I actually made up for all my missed posts in one night. That’s what happens when you’ve had too much coffee and can’t sleep! LOL

He Loves To Talk: Watch Your Mouth Mama

So, Hunter will be 23 months old a week from today and this boy loves to jibber jabber. He loves to sing, even sung himself to sleep the other night. He’s got a ton of phrases that most people wouldn’t have a clue what he means, but we know!

Today however I got a taste of the “learning to talk, watch what you say Mommy” toddler. I was sitting at my desk working and I accidentally saved a file I was working on over another file I had just completed. See Mom, told you it happens to me too! ;) I put my elbow on my desk, head in my hand and said “OH CRAP!”

Low and behold this cute little bugger was standing next to me and out of his mouth came OOOOOH CRAAAA!

I seriously think that was God’s way of telling me to watch my mouth, but even more importantly to laugh it off and not get upset that my work needed to be redone.
