First, let me just say finding a picture for this post was not an easy feat. You see, 5 Minutes for Mom and Home & Bedroom Furniture are giving away an entire bedroom set. Not just blankets and sheets here people. They are giving away one of these to one lucky winner in their Sleeping Angels photo contest.

Now, with my new fascination with pink (did I ever tell you I hated pink until I got pregnant with Sierra) I just love the Lily Rose set and that would be wonderful for Sierra when she gets older. And the Summer Breeze set would be great for Hunter who is almost ready to move from his toddler bed to a twin. However, I’m not entering for either of the two little ones.

Instead, I’m entering because Zachary, my almost 11 yo (thank goodness this contest has an age limit of 12) is in desperate need of a new bedroom set.

You see he’s gotten all the hand-me-down furniture over the years. Since Zach was born, he’s never had his own brand new bed or other furniture. It started as a newborn when he had a hand me down crib, then he got a bunk bed that belonged to his Aunt Bonnie, due to moving between Ohio & Virginia he then went from having a bed in his grandparent’s spare room in Ohio to another bed of his Aunt Bonnie’s when we moved back to Virginia. He kept that bed until a few years ago, when his Uncle Adam gave him a race car bed (also previously used and honestly too kiddish for him) and now, he’s in one of hubby’s old beds. His bed doesn’t even have a headboard and footboard, it’s just a box spring and mattress.

And that is just the bed. The boy has never had his own dresser, night stand or other furniture either. Currently, he has an old dresser of mine (a bit too girly for an 11 yo boy) and a make-shift night stand that was left in the house when we moved in. Don’t worry it was our grandmother’s house so it’s not like we kept furniture from a total stranger.

When I saw the contest over at 5 minutes for moms, I just about cried. You see, through all of this Zachary has NEVER ONCE complained about the fact that everyone else has gotten bedroom sets of their very own. He even enjoys helping us pick out things for his brother and sister’s rooms.

Just recently we remodeled the back room and turned it into a bedroom for Zach. We still have some painting and other things to do, but he has a space all his own. He’s picked out a space theme and after a few years of searching we finally found a great deal on bedding and curtains to fit. Can you believe he’s wanted the space theme since he was 6 years old? The boys got patience and persistence I tell ya.

So, I decided I was going to do my best to see that I won this contest so that my little (ok not so little anymore) angel could for once have a bedroom set that he could finally call HIS very own.  I’m putting my entry in for the Summer Breeze set in blueberry because it will match perfectly with the space theme. Here are two pictures of my sleeping angel, Zachary.

Yes, he really is sleeping, even with his little brother climbing all over him. Now, tell me that’s not an angel.

The contest is open until October 13th and 5 Minutes for Mom will then post the finalists on the 15th. The winner will be chosen from the finalists by a vote from others.So, I’ll be back on the 15th to let you know if we made it to the finals.
