I was browsing some blogs today while Hot Hubby was out for the first day of hunting season and I stopped by one of my favorite Christian blogs, Biblical Womanhood, and read a couple of her posts. If you’ve never been to Crystal’s blog, it’s definitely a must read!
Within one of her posts was a link to another post elsewhere (don’t you love how that works you start with one and end up reading about 20 other blogs!) entitled 12 Things You Should NOT Do To Your Husband.
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.” - Ephesians 5:22-24
Being the wife God wants me to be has not been an easy task and I’ll be honest I fail at it miserably, but it wasn’t until recently that I’ve finally started to understand what all is involved, but more importantly, WHY God wants wives to be submissive to their husbands. I always took that word for face value instead of learning that it doesn’t mean you are at his every beck and call, you don’t degrade or lower yourself to do so, etc.
If I had read that post even a year or two ago, I would have probably not made it past the first or second thing on the list. However, now that I “GET” it a bit more, I read the whole thing through and oh how it brings a peace over me!
I know that might sound weird to some, but seriously it did. You see, I strive to be a godly wife. I was once what I guess you would call a feminist (although I have never totally agreed with everything they stand for) and believed that women are equal to men in EVERY SINGLE WAY.
Not anymore, I know that God did not create us as women so that we could be just like (read…equal to) men. I’m sure I’m really ticking some women off here and if so I don’t apologize. If you really get to know the Bible and why we as women were created you will realize that if God wanted us to be absolutely equal to men, he would have simply created all of us as men.
Not only am I striving to be a wife my husband can be proud of but a wife God himself can be proud of!
What do you think? I’d love to know your thoughts and discuss this issue more!

Doesn’t in say in the bible that he created Eve to be Adams companion? I like being my husbands friend, soft place to land, Mother of his children. His support system.
I also enjoy that he likes being my support system, my soft place to land, the Father of my children. We share the burden of finances - raising the kids and taking care of the home.
I feel like I’ve got a great partner in life and I respect him fully. I really found a gem in him. Awww look at me…I’m so in love even after 6 years of marriage and 10 years together. Your post help bring these feelings to the surface for me…thanks!
