I’ve been really trying to come up with some things to do this summer with the kiddos, because well my 10 yo doesn’t need to be playing video games and doing chores ALL summer now does he? That and my 2 yo…well he’s a 2 yo need I say more? There is no such thing as sitting still and occupying his own time. As my Dad said in a letter he wrote him when he left from his short visit a few days ago: “You run around at Mach 2 with your hair on fire!”

Imagine my surprise when I saw that 5 Minutes for Mom is giving away 5 copies of Rachel Ray’s YUM-O Family Cookbook. I’ve been watching a bit of Miss Ray’s show since the princess baby was born and I just love her show, but what I really love is the simplicity of her meals. Besides, any meal that involves the help of kids needs to be easy and fun and we all know Rachel is FUN-O!

Without an MP3 player that is? 

I kept saying forever that I would have one, but how easy it is to put things like this on the backburner when you have:

1. A 10 year old who needs bigger sized jeans every 3 months and has hit a growth spurt that has been making him eat like a horse for the last six month.
2. A 2 yo who is growing out of his clothes (not quite as fast as his older brother), still in diapers, and eats just as much.
3. A baby on the way causing mom to need clothes that are more mom-appropriate!  Thank goodness I work from home and don’t need a whole new wardrobe and most days sweats and t-shirts will do.  After all, my 2 yo doesn’t care what mommy wears, right?
4. A business that needs to pay it’s contractors and continually re-invest it’s profits back into itself.
5. Not to mention the normal, everyday bills of running a household.

Well, I’m giving it another wirl and thanks to the ladies at 5 Minutes for Mom, I may not have to be the last person on earth to own one yet.  Susan & Janice, along with the folks at Best Buy are giving away an Insignia Bluetooth MP3 Player and a pair of Bluetooth Wireless Headphones. 

Wouldn’t I look just awesome with this? 

Not to mention it would definitely make cleaning house while listening to my favorite podcasts so much more fun.

Just wanted to post a quick pic I got from the winner of the Fun on the Ark stuff a friend bear from the contest earlier this month. Here’s a pic of Aurelia and her new friend, Cubby!

Aren’t they just adorable! Congrats Aurelia & Isaac. Isaac is her 8 year old son who helped stuff the bear, named him Cubby and has become Cubby’s official caretaker. Isaac, if you’re reading this…I know you’ll take good care of Cubby until his trip to Florida in May!
