Focus & Sanity Are My Goals…

Written by Arika

…but unless I do this one thing first, I’ll never reach the potential I know I can when it comes to reaching those two things.

What am I talking about? My health!

961618_be_healthy_2Until I take the bull by the horns and make my health one of my top priorities I’ll NEVER make it to the true focus and sanity I crave. Yes, I CRAVE those two things more than anything else at this moment in my life. You see I know that all the other areas of my life that are out of whack will fall into place once I can get and remained focused. With focus comes less stress and an all around happier business owner & mama!

The last few months I’ve really been doing a lot of soul searching and I’ll be honest and say it’s not been easy. I’ll explain more in the future about this because I’m by no means finished. Are you ever really finished when it comes to things like that? ;0) Nope I don’t think so, but I will share more later I promise. For now, I’ve got a healthy body and spirit that I’m after! See I’m doing my best to focus now.

Another personal item I’ve been working on a lot lately is being more positive and having more faith. Faith in God, Faith in myself, Faith in my entire life. Boy, that’s not always easy either, but like I’ve been known to tell others on numerous occasions:

“Baby Steps”

Any progress is one step closer to achieving the final result we’re after – even if that progress turns out to be a mistake. If it doesn’t turn out the way I’d hoped it’s ok. That’s a lesson learned that I won’t have to go through again.

I know I’m rambling here a bit and while it proves my point that I do need some focus (and sanity), I’ll leave you with two of the many things that I’ve been using (or plan to start using) to help me get to where I want to be – A happier and healthier Wahmmy!

Life & Business Integration -LaTara Ham-Ying is someone I like to consider a good friend and even more important she is a God send and I mean that literally. I subscribed to her Life & Business Integration newsletter because I was out of balance everywhere. I could go on and on about the reasons I subscribed but to make it short, sweet and easy on you I’ll quote the main reason right from the very first sentence on LaTara’s list of reasons you should subscribe to it because it fit me to a T!

“The core of this site is Life and Business Integration. This means that the Faith-Filled Entrepreneur will receive resources that fit the need to connect to business mind, body, and spirit.”

The Fat Loss Quickie Experience – This really excites me and no not because it’s a quickie…well actually now that I think about it – that IS a big part of why I’m so psyched, but not like you might think! ;0) Come on get your mind out of the gutter…lol

It’s because this is the first exercise program I’ve ever seen that understands that as a WAHM I’m busy and that’s one reason I don’t exercise like I should. The workouts are quick bursts of fitness that will really get you moving and your heart pumping. At only 10 minutes a piece (yes, that’s really it) I can surely fit that into my day! How cool is that?

BannerFatloss200x250I actually plan to start this tomorrow along with some friends of mine. I’ll be documenting my journey along the way as will many others I know. As a matter of fact, I’m a member of an accountability group that consists of me and 4 other work at home moms and all 5 of us will be participating together. One of which is Nicole Dean and you can follow along with her fitness journey too. She’s started already here.

Nicole actually did a podcast with Scott, owner of Fat Loss Quickie and I just fell in love with his positive attitude and the importance he places on finding yourself and living the life you want now and for years to come. This is a BIG thing for me right now. I have lost myself over the years and I want me back! I want the positive, encouraging person I once was back and I’m determined to find her! And, I want to be around to see my grandchildren, but more importantly I want to physically and mentally be around for my own kids NOW!

Scott is a personal trainer who has cut his offline business back to only 2 clients – both of which are 89 years old! He is a WAHD (work at home dad) who works side by side with his wife, Angie at home with their kids. They GET how hard it can be for us work at home parents to find the time to get and stay healthy.

You can hear the fun and eye-opening talk between Scott and Nicole right here.

I invite you to join us on a journey to a healthier, happier Wahmmy! Feel free to follow along with me here at the blog or jump on in and get your own quickie everyday!

I personally am not in this to lose weight, but because I want to be around a long, long time. Unfortunately, if I continue living and taking care of myself the way I have in the past almost 5 years that I’ve been working from home it’s not going to happen.

It’s time to make a change! Who’s with me?

So proud of you and excited to have you join us!

I woke up this morning full of excuses for not doing this project, but the accountability of you and posting it publicly kind of nipped that in the bud. :)

What a powerful post that you written here Arika. This is absolutely beautiful. I already feel like I’ve known you for years.

I’ve done a lot of soul searching myself this year and because if it I am the happiest that I’ve ever been and for the first time in my life I can say that I’m living in balance.

I want to thank you for putting your faith in me to guide you along this fitness journey, help you overcome challenges, and celebrate in your victories.

    You absolutely ROCK!

    Your new friend,
