Howdy ya’ll!
I know I’ve been a bit absent lazy with posting here lately but really I do have a good reason. On August 12th I became Mrs. Jerry Lewis!
After 4 1/2 years our dreams finally came true. Jerry and I not only met the partner God created for us, but joined together as man and wife under God’s gracious and loving eye.
It is really a funny story and definitely probably very different from what I imagined it would be like as a little girl. No big affair, not even a small planned one either. Well, it was planned that we would get married, but we hadn’t set a date. We knew that we wanted Jerry’s Uncle Randy to marry us, but things just didn’t work out the way we had wanted. Or should I say I wanted…Jerry would have been very content getting married at a justice of the peace.
I was set on going to the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virgina and having his uncle marry us either on the beach or in his church.
Let’s just say one of my wishes (and his too really) came true and it wasn’t the beach or the church! We had originally wanted to get married on 8/8/08 however things didn’t work out. Jerry’s dad had told us that his uncle had called and would be down the week of the 11th if all went well, if not he would be here the week of the 25th. So, on the 9th or 10th we decided we’d go ahead and get our marriage license so when he did come to visit we could be married then.
At about 2:30 the afternoon of the 12th, Jerry’s dad called me and told me Randy had called and they would be over later that evening! AAAAHHHH! I was still in my pajamas, Zach and Sierra neither one were presentable to the public as they were still in their PJs too and in need of a bath. Jerry was at work. We didn’t even have our license yet!
I called Jerry and he said, well I guess this means it’s time. I’ll leave work early and we can run up to the courthouse and get our license and then we’ll have it! So, in a matter of about an hour, I got all of us looking presentable (thank goodness Hunter was already with his grandparents because he wouldn’t have cooperated under that stress!
By 5:00 we had our license and were sitting in Jerry’s parent’s livingroom awaiting his aunt and uncle’s arrival. Jerry wanted something very, very private. Just me, him, the kids, and his parents. Well Mama Lewis had other plans! Love you Mom!
I wanted as many people as possible to be there, but respected Jerry’s wishes and told no one! Imagine how hard that was?
It ended up being all of us, Jerry’s parents, his uncle Randy & Aunt Sandra, Jerry’s sister and brother, his grandmother, and his Uncle Frankie and Robin, a close family friend. They all witnessed the joining of our hearts right there in the livingroom of his parent’s house, his uncle in his shorts (he felt so bad but we thought it was cool) and me in my bare feet!
As you can see from the hit & miss blog posts, I’ve really taken my role as wife seriously and stopped neglecting time with my husband and kids. Yes, I’m still working for myself and quite a bit actually, but business is no longer the first priority in my life. But that’s a whole other post that I’m putting together for later. Check back for this indepth post - it’s gonna be good I promise!
We took pictures but they didn’t turn out very well (all on camera phones), but I’m working on getting ahold of Daddy’s camera and editing those which were a bit better. I’ll post when I do!
Catch ya on the flipside!
