Ah the sounds of summer…2 yo running around like a crazy kid, 2 month old peacefully swinging, sleeping (or both) and 10 yo clack clacking away on his video game controller. All the while with mom cleaning, chasing, or if she’s lucky, working.
It’s summer break and officially summer on the calendar now and I have to find something to do this summer other than stay inside and loaf every day. Yes, I’m a bad mother! As much as Zach may not like it, there will be other things to do around here for the next few months. Unfortunately, other than taking the kiddos to the park and doing some crafty activities, I’m not exactly sure what that will be. I can easily amuse Sierra and Hunter, but I’ve got to find things that will amuse a 10 year old boy too.
Here are just a couple of things I thought about doing this summer with the kids.
Going to the library once a week.
Zach has a list of books that are great for summer reading and he’s really gotten out of reading lately and I want to get him interested in more than just the movie version again.
Work in the garden.
We’ve started a garden this year with hubster’s parents. I think a good lesson in weed picking, watering and all around taking care of something will do the boys some good. Sierra can just soak up the fresh air in her stroller. Lucky gal!
Chores
Yes, it might be summer break, but with all fun must come some work too. We don’t want lazy dormant children now do we? Each of the boys will have chores to do every day. Some days less than others, but they will contribute in one way or another. Again, Sierra gets to just sit back and watch. I told you she was spoiled.
So, who has other ideas to keep 2 boys of 8 years age difference occupied all summer long? Lay ‘em on me ladies and gents! Help Me Keep My Kids Happy, Learning & Having Fun This Summer!
