Fat Loss Quickie: Can You Squat with the Big Dogs?

Happy Friday! ;)

If you’re just stopping by and don’t know what the Fat Loss Quickie/Sexy Mama Abs workout is…you can head over here to catch up. The goal of FLQ is to create a healthier and wealthier home business owner without spending a ton of money (the entire program costs less than 20 bucks) and without taking a ton of time (as business owners and parents, we don’t HAVE tons of time to workout).

I’ve been having a blast with it and I think anyone who works from home should at least check it out. As WAHM & WAHD, it’s no secret that we let our health slide a lot, but if we begin putting our health as a priority, the wealth will come because we’ll be more focused on the business goals we’ve set for ourselves and won’t have to spend hours and hours working at the computer.

BannerFatloss200x250Every Friday of the Fat Loss Quickie Home Workout, we have to do 100 squats for the cardio portion of our daily exercise. That in itself is quite the feat. ;0) Leave it to  Nicole to bump it up a notch and hold a contest on her blog to see who could do the most squats (thank goodness tomorrow is a day of rest!).

I’ve been doing my squats off and on all day long and I won’t lie…I’m freakin’ sore! But it’s awesome to see everyone pushing their limits. Absolutely Amazing! I LOVE it!

I stayed offline most of the day until a few hours ago, when I hopped on and saw that Patti, “The Mom”, who mind you is a 50-something spunky lady, was in the lead with 325 squats – yes you read that right THREE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE!

When I first checked in a few hours ago I was up to 351 squats myself. Just before I sat down to write this post, I checked in again and realized another participant, Kevin “Mr. eBay” Johnson had blown right past me and was up to 435 squats. So, the competitive person I am did some more. I’m now up to 401 squats and plan to do more before hitting the sack tonight. Whether I’ll beat him I don’t know but I’m sure going to give him a run for his money! ;)

I’ll report back with the results over the weekend. For now, I’m off to squat my heart out – speaking of hearts, I know mine is lovin’ me today with all this work.

FLQ Cardio Workout: 3 & 1 Year Old Workin’ Out With Mama

I finally caught them on video joining in my Fat Loss Quickie Cardio and I’m proud to say my 3 year old son kept up with the entire 10 minutes! Mom – not so much, between taking video, laughing, and a little lower back pain during the jumping jacks I didn’t make it through all the reps.

This Sexy Abs Seeking Mama is kicking things up a notch this week with the Fat Loss Quickie home office workouts. Not only am I putting things on a whole new level, but so is Scott (and even Nicole has some fun planned for this week’s Friday workout). I’ll get to those things in just a minute, but first let me explain things on my end.

How I’m Upping My Game

I finally got my stability ball last weekend so starting yesterday I began doing the resistance (weight) portion as well as the cardio portion of the FLQ workouts. So far, I’m loving it!

Am I sore? Oh, heck yeah!  My shoulders, upper arms and chest are really feeling it after the past 2 days’ workouts, but I’m ok with that – it means it’s working. I actually feel more energized after the resistance part (which I do in the morning) than I do after the cardio (which seems to be kicking my tushie more this week than before).

So, I’m still in it for the long haul. I finally found a workout I can fit into my busy day as a mama of 3, wife and business owner. Above and beyond that, I’ve found a community of people who are just like me and who will help hold me accountable. Thank you to all of you keeping up with my progress and cheering me on by the way. YOU are the biggest reason I’ve stuck with this – nothing like public accountability to make it happen, right? ;)

How Scott’s Making Fat Loss Quickie Even Better!

I’ll be honest I really didn’t think it could get any better.  As if having a personal trainer at pretty much my beck and call for only $20 wasn’t enough. Once again he has proven me wrong (in a good way) and given us EVEN more than he already has.

  1. Tracking Printouts – We now have printouts to help us track our progress on each of the daily exercises. I printed mine out and kept records so that next week I can see the improvements I’ve made for each specific exercise.
  2. Workout Video Downloads - Before we had streaming video for each day’s workout and some of the participants (myself included but not as bad as others) had problems with the videos freezing or stopping during playback. Now, we have the option to download the videos directly to our computer making the inability of our Internet connections to keep up.  This also makes it a lot easier to go back to the videos after the first week because after week 1 you do the same workouts every week.
  3. FLQ Home Office Fitness Transformation Contest – Oh yeah, you read that right! To find out more about the first transformation contest, have a look at this video. I can tell you there are some smokin’ prizes that I’ve got my eye on – including being on stage with Scott at NAMS3 and $500 cash!

Talk about making this MORE than worthwhile, hu? I strongly urge you to join in the fun (Yes, I just called fitness fun!) It’s only 2 – 10 minute workouts a day and those 10 minutes go by FAST, but more importantly they WORK!

Sexy Mama Abs Home Office Workout: Quickie Style

Ok, I have a huge gap here in my Fat Loss Quickie updates, but I just wanted to check in real quick (where has this Monday gone?) and let you know I’m still here and still doing the workouts.This weekend was a very busy one and included a 4th birthday for Little Man Hunter. Wow – 4 years already – I’m still in shock. He on the other hand, doesn’t seem to notice. ;)

Today has flown by and started with 2 sick kiddos followed by a busted forehead for Little Man right before the bus came which lead to his first missed day of school. He’s ok – he’s tough but mama kept him home just to be safe because I wasn’t sure if he was going to need stitches and to keep an eye on him.

Even with all of those mishaps today, I still managed to jump on my first day of the weight workout of Fat Loss Quickie, and WOW! I was missing so much. I felt great and the energy was even more prominent after I did this portion of the workout today.

I also got quite a bit accomplished business wise today. In fact I just finished up for the day. Not everything on my to-do list got checked off, but a good chunk of it did and I met my goal of working at least 4 billable hours today. I’m happy with myself and can sleep tonight without worrying that I’m behind on things! Ahhh this is a wonderful feeling.

You’ve heard me sing the praises of Scott, owner and founder of Fat Loss Quickie for nearly 2 weeks now and as much as I can talk about how great he and his program are, you’ll never believe a word of it unless you get to know Scott. He really is my virtual personal trainer. He has a genuine concern for all of his customers, their health and their business success and it shows in everything he does. It really can’t be put into words that would do justice.

But…She Told Me to Just Dance: FLQ Week 2 Here I Come!

Ok, here we go…Week 2 of the Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Workout. For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, I’ve been part of a 30 day workout along with other WAH folks like Nicole, Patti, Susanne, Angela and many others. We’ve all been journaling our progress on this workout created specifically for those of us who work at home and have neglected our health and fitness. Now, onto week 2! Wow that just sounds awesome to be able to say I’ve been doing this for 2 weeks now.

This is what I woke up to on Twitter this morning from Scott, owner of Fat Loss Quickie.

You see I did those 100 squats yesterday. And, Scott being the good trainer he is was checking up on me and keeping me going. He KNEW I was going to be sore even before I felt it. ;0) At that point I hadn’t really felt it yet. Maybe it was because I had just woke up and sat down to my computer and my legs were still asleep, maybe it’s because Scott has this super power that makes things happen when he speaks them…I don’t know but here was my reply: (Remember now, I said I wasn’t all the way awake yet, yeah well you’ll see that when you see the way I spelled “thought”)

Well I’d say within about an hour of that comment…they started hurting! I felt muscles I haven’t felt in the back of my legs, butt and thighs since I gave birth. Yeah, so Scott if you’ve got a super power I don’t know about – let’s leave it that way from now on please…some things are better left unsaid! ;0)

So for today’s workout we started with Day 1 again. This time the goal was to push a little bit further than the first go around. We did Knee Ups & Burpees again today.

Knee Ups – I actually kind of like these they are one of the few exercises I can do the whole way through and they definitely get the blood flowin’ and the heart beatin’!

Burpees - Oh burpees. I won’t lie – I’m a wimp when it comes to pushups and combine that with my clumsiness and the fact that it’s not just a push up but jumping and more…Yeah it’s not an easy task for me those burpees. So, I did what I could and improvised a bit when I couldn’t.

I was actually starting to get a bit aggravated at myself that I couldn’t do more than 2 or 3 at a time when the song on the music channel I had been listening to (Party Hits) gave me a sign! Leave it to Lady Gaga to keep me moving and give me an out. “Just Dance” – which happens to be on of my favorite get focused and do it songs came on. What did I do in place of those burpees?

Yep, you guessed it. I DANCED! – Hey, I almost always do what I’m told. ;)

So, today’s workout was original supposed to be Knee Ups followed by Burpees and do it over again for a total of 5 times. For me, it was Knee Ups, Burpee (or 2) then JUST DANCE! Honestly, I broke a decent sweat that way. So much so that once I finished the workout I ran to the bathroom and took a nice cool shower! AHHH That felt so good!

Even though I was still huffing and puffing for a bit after my shower, I still felt GREAT! My inlaws actually came over while I was in the shower and I walked out and immediately told them about the workout. ;0)
