My poor baby girl! She will probably never like playing with rubber duckies in the bath and I can see her cringing anytime she hears “Rubber Ducky you’re the one.”
Earlier Hunter and Zachary were having their normal, everyday, fighting match. Hunter throws things, Zachary tells him to stop and it ends up in an all out battle that has this mama ready to pull her hair out and run for the hills! Today was no exception.
Hunter had been right this afternoon after we got home from running errands and I constantly kept taking toys and telling him (a little harsher tone every time) to stop throwing things because he was going to end up hitting his baby sister or hurting himself or Zach. I thought I had it under control and all the harmful toys taken away.
I was WRONG!
I went to my pc to try and show my assistant how to handle something and in the midst of the calm (You’d think I know by now that quiet equals nothing good with kids) I hear Zach gasp and Sierra start to cry. Yep, Hunter had done it. He found Sierra’s rubber ducky and chucked it across the livingroom at Zachary with the aim that only a 2 year old can have.
Sierra was in her glider content as could be and here comes this flying rubber duck - SMACK! - right into the right side of her head. I feel horrible and while comforting baby girl trying to find out exactly where the duck had made contact with her precious little newborn head, told Hunter in no uncertain terms that he was IN BIG TROUBLE!
I showed him the mark and told him that he hurt his baby sister. Then promptly made him apologize to her and give her a kiss. And in true “I’m not ready to forgive you yet” girl form, Sierra turned her head as soon as he leaned down and puckered his lips to kiss her on the tip of her nose!
Sierra is fine, will have a tiny bump on her head, but will survive and Hunter well, as I write this he obviously is over the fact that he hurt his sister because he and Zach are back at it again. This time it’s shaking his cup to make milk go all over his big brother’s blanket! UUHHH and this is only about 30 minutes of what my day is like as a mom of 10 and 2 year old boys and a newborn girl!
Gotta Love It!
Mental note to self: Don’t sing rubber ducky to Sierra when she gets older!

Oh wow, do I *ever* hear you on that!! Lots of empathy and cups of calming coffee. It *does* get better (so I’m told….
).
Best wishes, Barbara

I can just envision you guys as I was reading your post - kinda makes me feel happy that my kids are bigger now at least they do not throw things anymore. However, they can get physical sometimes - which is never a good thing.

Ok so I suppose I have to stop and remind myself that at least with just one he’s only bugging me and not flinging things at a sibling…LOL. Man what a crazy day…I can’t even begin to imagine. You poor thing. I giggled so hard when I read the part about Sierra turning her head…that was stinking hilarious!
