Text Messaging = Ignore Mom What??

Check this out.  Teens/Tweens using the text messaging feature on their cell phones to avoid “talking” to their parents.

Just one reason my 10 yo won’t have a cell anytime soon. :)

Now I have to admit I have done this before just because I don’t feel like “talking” on the phone, but I also don’t have to answer to my mother or father anymore. But I also don’t like talking on the phone in the first place, especially since I’m at a computer all day and can probably type faster than talk now-a-days anywho! ;)

For those of you with kids with cellphones, do you think your kids have done this to you?

For those like me whose kiddos aren’t old enough or don’t have a cell, do you have text capabilities on your phone and have you been guilty of avoiding real conversation in exchange for text messaging?

I might be weird by saying this but I’d rather pick up the phone & call instead of texting. It takes too long & I hate having to respond back and forth. So for me, it’s just easier and quicker for me to call.

My son is 9 and has a cell phone but it does not have text messaging capabilities on it.

Andrew is only 7 and so doesn’t have a cell phone, although he nags me constantly that he wants one. However, my friend has a couple teenage daughters and they definitely use the cell to avoid her. I’ve used it to avoid people I didn’t want to talk to.
